Protecting your home

When buying a home you need to insure against unfortunate events. In many cases the appropriate insurance will be arranged through your mortgage lender. You should of course ensure that you have buildings insurance for the re-instatement value of the house which is the price of fully rebuilding the property (different to the price being paid), together with insurance to cover your own possessions, in effect from the date of entry. As with many things it can be better to shop around for the best deal rather than simply accepting the package suggested by your lender.

Of course insurance cannot actually protect your life but it can protect your home for your family. Different types of insurance can be used to repay your mortgage should you die.
