Personal Injury

Getting compensation after an accident

We have many years of experience of helping the unfortunate victims of accidents recover the maximum amount of compensation in the shortest possible time.

Road traffic accidents

We help many people with accidents that have taken place in the street, usually involving one or more vehicles and often pedestrians and passengers in the vehicles. Injuries range from being “shaken up” to very serious injuries and death.

Pedestrians and passengers in the vehicles will nearly always recover compensation because they can show that one (or more) of the vehicle drivers caused the accident.

If you are the driver of the vehicle you will be able to claim if you can show that someone else, usually another driver, is in some degree to blame.

Tripping accidents

If you are injured because you trip over a defective pavement or other similar obstacle you may again be entitled to compensation. We can help with this. You should try to photograph the defect as soon as possible and get the names and addresses of any witnesses.

Accidents at work

If you receive an injury whilst at work you should always consult a solicitor to see if you can bring a claim for compensation.

In order to get compensation you will have to show that your employer has failed in some way to provide safe materials or safe conditions at work. Some of these are very specialised now and you will need advice on the issue.

Some Common Questions Answered.

How much will I get?

This depends on the extent of your injuries and whether you have made a full recovery or not. One of our lawyers will advise on the type of compensation you might get.

In addition to compensation for your injuries you may also be able to recover compensation for your lost wages. If as a result of the accident you are unable to work in the future, then you will be awarded a figure in respect of your future loss of earnings.

How long will it take?

This largely depends on the severity of your injuries and how long it takes you to make a recovery. Even if you make a full recovery from your injuries within say 6 months of the accident it may well be a further 6-18 months before you obtain compensation. This can be due to various factors including delay in obtaining medical reports.

In cases of serious injury where there is permanent disability, it may take even longer to settle the claim. However, in some cases it may be possible to apply for an interim payment on account of the final amount.

What do I do next?

Remember the initial interview to discuss your case will be free. Contact our accredited specialist Victoria Buchanan to arrange a diagnostic interview to be fully advised on your potential claim.

I should have sent an email earlier to thank you for all your work to make sure the settlement went through for the house (at both ends!) – we never met you in person but we both thought you were super efficient and we’re very grateful for your painstaking work on making sure that everything went through – as well as answering our emails quickly and reassuring us that all was well. It really is a great service that you provide.
